In a closely followed election, Ganapathy Rajkumar P of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the constituency with a strong and clear margin. He secured 5,68,200 votes, which is 41.39% of the total votes cast, giving him a comfortable victory in a multi-cornered contest.
The election saw active participation from voters and strong competition among major political parties, making the contest important both politically and symbolically.
Strong Fight by BJP
Coming second was Annamalai K of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He polled 4,50,132 votes, which is 32.79% of the vote share. Although he did not win, his performance is considered significant. Political analysts say this result shows that BJP is steadily increasing its support base in the region and becoming a serious challenger.
AIADMK Finishes Third
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) candidate, Singai G Ramachandran, stood third in the race. He received 2,36,490 votes, accounting for 17.23% of the total votes. Analysts believe that vote splitting among major parties affected AIADMK’s performance in this election.
NTK and NOTA Performance
Kalamani Jaganathan of the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) secured 82,657 votes, which is 6.02%. This shows that NTK continues to have a loyal voter base, even though it remains smaller compared to the bigger parties.
The NOTA (None of the Above) option received 11,788 votes, making up 0.86% of the total votes. This indicates that only a small section of voters chose to reject all candidates.
What This Result Means
Political observers say the result clearly confirms DMK’s strong hold in the constituency. At the same time, the BJP’s growing vote share suggests changing political trends and voter preferences. The outcome is expected to influence future election strategies, alliances, and campaign planning for all major parties in the region.
Overall, the election reflected active voter participation, healthy competition, and evolving political dynamics.
