Compass
A compass is a navigational tool used to determine direction relative to the Earth’s magnetic poles. Traditional compasses feature a magnetic needle that aligns itself with the Earth’s magnetic field, pointing towards the magnetic north pole.
In modern electronic devices, such as smartphones and tablets, a digital compass or magnetometer is used to provide the same functionality. The magnetometer measures the strength and direction of the magnetic field, allowing the device to determine its orientation and provide accurate compass readings.
Compasses are commonly integrated into navigation apps and features, providing users with real-time directional information, helping them navigate maps, find directions, and orient themselves while exploring unfamiliar areas. Digital compasses have become an essential tool for outdoor activities, hiking, camping, and general navigation.
